Blogging has become more and more common to internet users. We blog about our life, about what we like and also to share our knowledge. But, we may write our articles at different PC, and some of the PC don’t have applications that we need. So, i would recommend bloggers to install some portable applications on their USB flash drive.

There are a lot of portable applications. You don’t need to install every single application. Just pick those applications that you may need. Today, i would like to recommend 4 applications that every bloggers should install.

Firefox Portable

Mozilla Firefox is a great browser. You can install a lot of extensions that make your life easier. There are some extensions which I think will help bloggers. For example FireShot, Foxmarks Bookmark Synchronizer, and SearchStatus. Besides helping bloggers, Firefox also provides extra security features such as popup blocker. So, I highly recommend everyone to install this application on your USB drive.

Windows Live Writer Portable version

Windows Live Writer is an application that makes it easy to publish blog from your desktop. You can even create blogs offline and publish them when you online. Scott Kingery had published a portable launcher, which let you bring along this great application on your USB drive.

Paint.NET

Paint.NET is a free and lightweight application that comes with all basic features of image editing. If you just want to capture any screenshot and make some minor modification before publish, Paint.NET should more than enough. After download and install, go to your Program Files and copy Paint.NET folder to your USB drive. But, this application require .NET Framework 2.0 and above. You may try GIMP if your PC doesn’t install .NET Framework.

Feedreader

Feedreader is an open source aggregator that supports RSS and Atom formats. It is a lightweight application. Although most of us subscribe to feed through Google Reader, but sometime we may using untrusted computer and we don’t want to login with our Google account. Then Feedreader may help us. Feedreader can save all your stories in the database, and you even can read them offline! So, you may download your stories into your USB drive and read them anywhere.

Moderator is an Adobe AIR application and Wordpress plugin which allow bloggers to view and moderate comments from desktop. Moderator is a new application and some of the features of this application include:

• Viewing unmoderated comments.
• Dock and system tray notifications of the number of unmoderated comments.
• Accept, delete, and spam comments from within the desktop client.
• Close application window, or minimize it to the system tray while running.
• Shows the Gravatar icons for the user who posted the comment.

This application only support Wordpress 2.6+ and you need a PC which installed Adobe AIR 1.1. After download the plugin, upload it to your Wordpress server and activate it thrpugh Plugin Page and follow the instruction to download the dekstop client.This is a pretty cool application as you can moderate or view your comments at your desktop.

Although this is a handy application, but there are still a lot of space for this application to growth. For example, the author may adds feature so that bloggers can reply comments through this application, or probably moderate a few blogs’ comments in the same application.
